201​9 Awards

On Sunday, January 20 AFCI recognized excellence in retail, industry service and philanthropy.


Hall of Fame
Ken and Barbara Griffin as well as John Laurie are this year's inductees into the AFCI Hall of Fame.  They were honored for their extraordinary contributions leading to the growth and success of their organizations and the creative arts industry.

Industry Awards
Richard Brown received the Meritorious Award of Honor, the highest award of recognition that AFCI can bestow upon an individual member, past or present, ​for the significant contributions made to AFCI.

The Industry Achievement Award went to Tammy Browning-Smith for her contributions to the growth and vitality of the craft and hobby industry. 

Doug Earle received the Special Recognition Award for his extraordinary contributions that showcased the craft and hobby industry in a positive way.

Creative Retailer of the Year Awards
This was the first year honoring creative retailers for their excellence in business.  Brook Roe, founder of Pinspiration was awarded with the Brick and Mortar Retailer of the Year Award.  Alexandra Stapleton of The Hedgehog Hollow took home the Online Retailer of the Year Award.

Industry Panel Discussion

Key leaders discussed the state of the creative industry and how we can adapt to the ever-changing environment in a panel discussion titled, Let's Get Real:  The Challenges and Opportunities Within the Industry.  Thank you to our sponsor SGS.  If you missed it, you can listen and watch here:

The New Product Showcase is one of the most popular attractions on the Show floor.  This year, a panel of judges selected three new product winners based on a set of criteria.  The three winners, in no particular order, are as follows:

Exhibiting With Excellence Booth Award Winners

Five companies were awarded the Exhibiting With Excellence Awards for their eye-catching booth designs that clearly communicated their product lines. Webster's Pages won the Spotlight Award for incorporating the trade show’s theme, "Home is Where Creativity Is!" ​Siser won Critic’s Choice for their large and colorful booth display. The other winners were: Ink Road Stamps & Dies for Best New Exhibitor Booth; ​Rust-Oleum for Best Linear Booth; and ​Fiskars for Best Island Booth.
